A single source search involves research in any one source for one record e.g research in church baptism records and civil birth records for one record.
A family search covers research in church and civil records for the marriage of a couple and research for all children recorded baptised and born to this couple.
The Assessment is the first stage in the process of producing a Family History Report. Each and every report compiled by our research department is individually researched and can only be costed after an initial assessment. The fee charged for the assessment covers the time involved in locating information on your ancestors in the available Co. Leitrim sources and no details are provided at this stage, until the quoted final fee is received. The assessment just gives a view to what is available, no further information is provided.
On receipt of an Application Form(Research Questionnaire) and initial assessment fee we will carry out a search of all the relevant records. We will then send you a report on our progress outlining the research we have carried out on your behalf and indicating the sources your ancestors are recorded in. At this stage we will be in a position to quote you a final fee for a Comprehensive Family History Report. The assessment fee is deducted from the full report fee. When our research proves successful a typical figure for total fees for a Family History Report is €395.
In some cases research may prove extremely difficult and the amount of information found may not be sufficient to compile a Family History Report of the scale and standard we usually produce. In such a case we will provide all the available information with the assessment report.
A Family History Report is an extensive report providing all the genealogical information relating to a family(paternal line only) that we can find in the main sources, as well as a variety of lesser-known sources. A Family History Report will be an attractive hard bound volume and will be of presentation quality. It will be valued by families as their permanent record of their Leitrim ancestors.
The amount of information we can find will vary greatly depending on the date of the enquiry, the parish, and of course the information you can provide for us.
An average report will take up to two days to research. Our findings will be presented in an attractive hard bound format and will usually include details of:-
- Church records of baptisms and marriages.
- Civil (State) records of births, marriages and deaths.
- Land records.
- 1901 Census.
- 1911 Census.
- Graveyard inscriptions.
- Newspaper references.
- Maps of the area.
- Details on the parish of your ancestors.
- Copies of documents, where relevant.
